Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Plans, directs, and provides Resident care according to individual resident needs and/or the Health Service Plan. Notified Director of Nursing ("DON") Resident Care Services of resident's change in status and notified physician and family of changes at the direction of the DON. Administers drugs and treatments in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and with the facility policies and procedures. Assists in the development and maintenance of Resident Assessment, Health Service Plans and Medical Care Plans.
Gives verbal and written reports of Resident's condition to the Director of Nursing. Assists in the selection, evaluation, supervision, and corrective action regarding nursing personnel at the request of the Director of Nursing. Uses infection control techniques and principals to prevent the spread of communicable diseases and supervises direct care staff to assure that they are also adhering to infection control standards. Actively participates in in-service programs. Attends all required in-services annually. Interacts cooperatively with Residents, families, visitors, and other staff. Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices. Actively participates in the facility Quality Assurance Program. Exhibits knowledge of and effectively assures Resident Rights.

The staff nurse assists the Director of Nursing in provision of care within the Stein community.
