A Licensed Practical Nurse or Vocational Nurse provides basic medical care under the direction of registered nurses and other healthcare specialists. The tasks that they are permitted to perform vary by state, but usually include changing bandages, checking blood pressure, or helping feed patients. May work in hospitals, nursing homes, or other healthcare facilities.
CEO Job Requirements Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and New Jersey Board of Nursing regulations. Monitor patients for changes in physical and mental health status, including signs of withdrawal, medication side effects, and psychiatric symptoms. Complete nursing assessments within the LPN scope of practice and promptly report significant findings to the supervising RN or provider. Obtain and document vital signs, medication administration, laboratory results, and nursing interventions in the electronic medical record (EMR). Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharge processes, including health screenings and patient education. Respond appropriately to psychiatric and medical emergencies following facility protocols. Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and communicate pertinent patient information. Provide health education regarding medications, wellness, chronic disease management, and recovery. Maintain infection prevention standards and ensure a safe therapeutic environment. Monitor medication inventory, controlled substances, and medication storage according to federal, state, and facility requirements. Support implementation of individualized treatment plans under the direction of the RN and licensed providers. Observe patient behavior and promptly communicate concerns related to suicide risk, self-harm, aggression, or changes in mental status. Assist with crisis intervention while utilizing de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed care principles. Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation. Perform other duties as assigned. Education/Experience Current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of New Jersey. Current CPR/BLS certification. Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program. Knowledge of medication administration, infection control, and nursing documentation. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with individuals experiencing mental illness and/or substance use disorders
