School-Based Minimum Job Requirements:
Current New York State LPN license Current CPR/BLS certification Strong assessment, communication, and documentation skills Ability to respond calmly and effectively to changes in a student's medical status Experience working with children and/or individuals with complex medical or developmental needs is preferred Approximately 6.5 hours per day | School-Day Schedule | Health Insurance Included We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide individualized 1:1 nursing support to an elementary school student with a disability. This is a unique opportunity for an LPN who values building a meaningful connection with a student while working as part of a supportive school team. Unlike many traditional nursing positions, this role offers consistent daytime hours, a school-based schedule, and the opportunity to provide focused care to one student. The LPN will help ensure that the student's health and medical needs are safely supported so the student can participate as fully and independently as possible in the school experience. Schedule Approximately 6.5 hours per school day, including the 6-hour instructional day and bus transportation to and from school. The position follows the school calendar. Key Responsibilities Provide individualized 1:1 nursing care throughout the school day and during transportation to and from school. Monitor the student's health and respond appropriately to medical needs. Observe, measure, document, and communicate relevant health information. Administer prescribed medications and perform required nursing procedures in accordance with medical orders and established protocols. Promote the student's safety, comfort, independence, and access to educational and school activities. Collaborate with school nurses, teachers, related service providers, administrators, healthcare providers, and the student's family. Develop a strong understanding of the student's individual needs, routines, communication, and signs of medical concern. Why Consider School-Based Nursing?
