Job description: The Village at Cranberry Landing community is seeking an experienced, hands-on Assistant Director of Nursing to assist leading our Health & Wellness team serving Assisted Living and Memory Care residents. This is more than a nursing leadership position, we are looking for someone who is passionate about building a strong team, creating a positive culture, and ensuring our residents receive exceptional care every day. Our Assistant Director of Nursing is a visible leader who is willing to jump in when needed, mentor staff, support families, and lead by example. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in New York State Assisted Living regulations, understands Department of Health expectations, and is committed to maintaining survey readiness while fostering a culture of accountability, compassion, and excellence. Must have long term care experience. The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of resident care in our Assisted Living community, ensuring services are delivered safely, effectively, and in compliance with state regulations. This role leads the care team, ensures staff compliance, monitors residents' health and service plans, and upholds the community's high standards for wellness and dignity.
QUALIFICATIONS
Current LPN in New York, in good standing. A minimum of 5 years of nursing experience in long-term care, assisted living, or a related senior care setting. Experience with resident assessments, service plan development, and medication oversight. Familiarity with New York Assisted Living regulations, including staffing, medication administration. CPR and First Aid certification, current and maintained. Must pass criminal background screening and any other mandated checks per state requirement. Strong communication, leadership, and documentation skills. Minimum of 3 years' experience supervising direct care staff. Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and electronic documentation platforms.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • On-Call Responsibility Staff Schedule Coordination Conduct and or coordinate resident pre-admission assessments as required.
  • Develop, implement, and revise individualized service plans (ISPs) based on residents' needs and changes in condition.
  • Oversee medication administration program.
  • Maintain staffing ratios.
  • Maintain compliance with documentation, and incident reporting.
  • Monitor resident health, behavior, and safety on an ongoing basis.
  • Serve as point of contact for resident families and external providers (home health, hospice, etc.
). Leadership & Supervision Train, supervise, and evaluate care staff, including medication aides and CNAs. Ensure staff competencies align with delegation protocols and training. Maintain staffing levels in accordance with care needs. Conduct routine audits of medication administration, service plan implementation, and charting practices. Be available to respond to emergencies and support after-hours needs on a rotating on-call basis. Administrative & Safety Oversight Collaborate with the Director of Nursing and Executive Director. Participate in emergency preparedness drills and maintain current infection controlprotocols Maintain open communication with the Executive Director and other department heads for seamless operations.
PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs occasionally and assist residents with mobility. Frequent walking, bending, standing, and use of hands in care-related tasks. Must comply with states vaccine requirements, including COVID-19 and influenza if mandated.

Collaborate with referral sources, surveyors, and families with confidence and grace. Ensure policies and procedures reflect current state regulations and best practices. Participate in community events, marketing efforts, and resident satisfaction initiatives. Be accessible by phone after hours in emergency situations and during on-call rotations.
