Job Description
Leeway School is a non-profit school that has been in existence for over 40 years and serves special needs, developmentally delayed and typical developing children from 3 to 5 years of age. Leeway School is looking for an LPN or RN to oversee the health and safety of our special education preschoolers. Job Responsibilities include, but not limited to : Develop, update and adhere to the Leeway School Health Care Plan according to the OCFS regulations Review students health records and IEP's Maintain yearly physical exam and immunization records Maintain NYS RN license and AHA CPR/First Aid certifications and OCFS training hours as required Maintain and update student emergency contacts Provide staff training on relevant topics like: allergies, choking and seizure management Contact parents in case of a student contracting an illness requiring the student to be sent home or contracting an injury or illness requiring the student to be sent to the hospital Complete accident or incident reports and log the events into the Nurse's Daily Log book. Report to OCFS as necessary Maintain infection control practices and procedures Dispense and administer student medications as necessary and log events into the register Qualifications for the position are: LPN or Registered Nurse certification is required Experience working with children in a school environment preferred Experience working with children with special needs is preferred Schedule will be M-F 8:30am to 4:00pm with half hour meal break
