Job Description

Category Schools - LPN Nurse Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract role serving children in a supportive school environment, where your nursing expertise will have a direct, positive impact on students' daily lives. Two Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are needed through the end of June, with potential for extension. Both roles involve working with medically fragile youth, including those with complex health needs such as tracheostomies, g-tubes, diabetes management, and seizure care. One LPN will support an elementary student on the west side and accompany them on the bus each day, while the other will assist a high school student in Brockport. Hours are full-time, approximately 30-32.5 hours per week during the school day (with lunch breaks factored in). Preferred candidates are compassionate, adaptable, and have experience with pediatric or young adult care, particularly in long-term acute care (LTAC) settings or similar environments.
Key Qualifications:
Active LPN/LVN license in New York State Previous work with pediatric or adolescent populations Skilled in trach care, g-tube management, diabetes, and seizure response Experience supporting medically fragile students (including bus rides as required) Comfortable working independently within a school setting Able to provide at least one supervisor reference
Role Responsibilities:
Deliver direct medical care, medication administration, and health monitoring for assigned student Safeguard student safety, including during transport (bus riding for one assignment) Provide emergency care and respond to health crises as needed Communicate effectively with educators, families, and medical professionals Maintain thorough medical documentation and collaborate in team meetings This opportunity comes with a pay range starting at $32-$35 per hour, with higher rates considered for exceptional experience.
