This role offers the opportunity to work as part of a collaborative healthcare team while helping patients on their path to recovery. Position Summary The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct and indirect nursing care to assigned patients, including assessments, medication administration, patient education, care planning, documentation, and crisis intervention. The LPN works closely with physicians and interdisciplinary treatment teams to support patient safety, recovery, and overall well-being. Key Responsibilities Provide basic nursing care and monitor the ongoing health status of patients, including acutely ill patients when necessary. Complete nursing assessments and maintain individualized nursing care plans. Administer medications in accordance with licensure, training, and hospital policies. Assist physicians and other healthcare professionals with patient care and treatment. Maintain accurate and timely patient records, progress notes, and required documentation. Facilitate or participate in patient education groups, health discussions, and therapeutic group activities. Respond appropriately to patient, medical, and psychiatric emergencies. Support the daily operation of inpatient units and maintain a safe treatment environment. Follow all hospital safety, infection control, and patient confidentiality policies. Work collaboratively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary treatment teams. Attend all required training and educational programs. Qualifications Education Graduate of an approved Practical Nursing program. Completion of an approved medication administration program for oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications. Licensure & Certifications Current Pennsylvania Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license. Current CPR/BLS certification. Experience & Skills Two years of experience in a psychiatric, behavioral health, and/or substance use treatment setting preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to organize and coordinate patient care effectively. Ability to work successfully within a team-based environment. Leadership skills and sound clinical judgment. Training or experience in group dynamics and therapeutic group facilitation preferred. Physical and psychological patient assessment skills. Physical Requirements Extensive standing and walking throughout the workday. Ability to push medication carts and transport patients in wheelchairs. Ability to climb at least three flights of stairs. Ability to assist with moving or restraining patients when necessary, including occasional heavy lifting. Working Conditions Flexibility to work various inpatient units and shifts as needed. Weekend and holiday assignments required according to Nursing Department policy. Exposure to infectious diseases and behavioral health crises. Ability to intervene during psychiatric emergencies.
