Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Admissions Nurse working the 3pm to 11pm shift! In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for new residents, ensuring a smooth and compassionate admission process. Your expertise will help facilitate seamless transitions into our facility, providing comfort and clarity to patients and their families. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your nursing skills in a fast-paced, supportive environment dedicated to exceptional patient care. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient assessments upon admission, including vital signs, medical history review, and physical examinations. Manage intake procedures efficiently while ensuring compliance with long-term care regulations and HIPAA confidentiality policies. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans, discharge planning, and documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and perform catheter care following strict clinical protocols. Assist with diagnostic evaluations, specimen collection/processing, and basic life support (BLS) procedures like CPR and first aid. Communicate effectively with patients' families and caregivers to explain procedures, answer questions, and provide education on dementia care, Alzheimer's care, or memory care needs. Maintain accurate medical records while adhering to infection control standards and clinical confidentiality policies. Skills Proven experience working in critical care settings such as ICU, emergency room, or Level I Trauma Center environments. Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for documentation and patient management. Skilled in medical terminology including
ICD-9/10
coding for accurate medical documentation. Expertise in patient assessment techniques involving physiology knowledge, vital signs monitoring, and physical examinations. Experience working with diverse populations including geriatric patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring hospice or palliative care. Proficiency in IV insertion, venipuncture (phlebotomy), tube feeding management, and airway management techniques such as ventilator use. Familiarity with long-term care regulations, skilled nursing facility standards, and sub-acute or post-acute care processes.
