Job Summary We are seeking dependable and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to provide nursing support within a crisis stabilization program serving individuals experiencing behavioral health, psychiatric, emotional, or substance-related crises. The LPN will work under the clinical oversight and direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) and must practice within the authorized scope of an LPN license in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The ideal candidate will be calm under pressure, comfortable working in a behavioral health environment, and able to provide respectful, person-centered, and trauma-informed care. Available Shifts All shifts are eight hours: Day shift Evening shift Overnight shift Weekend and holiday availability may be required Specific shift times will be discussed during the interview. Essential Responsibilities Monitor individuals' physical, behavioral, and emotional conditions throughout the shift. Obtain and document vital signs and other health-related information as ordered. Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and agency procedures. Monitor individuals for medication effectiveness, side effects, allergic reactions, and changes in condition. Complete medication counts and accurately document medications on the Medication Administration Record. Immediately report medication errors, refusals, adverse reactions, or discrepancies. Recognize and respond appropriately to medical, psychiatric, behavioral, and substance-related emergencies. Notify the supervising RN of significant changes in an individual's condition. Support individuals using person-centered, trauma-informed, and least-restrictive approaches. Participate in crisis prevention, verbal de-escalation, safety monitoring, and emergency response. Assist with nursing-related admission, transfer, and discharge responsibilities. Complete clear, accurate, objective, and timely nursing documentation. Provide complete shift-to-shift nursing reports. Communicate professionally with the RN, physicians, pharmacies, treatment team members, individuals, and authorized representatives. Follow infection-control, confidentiality, individual-rights, and emergency procedures. Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment. Remain awake, alert, and attentive throughout the entire shift. Perform other nursing duties consistent with the employee's Virginia LPN license, training, competency, and assigned responsibilities. Clinical Oversight The LPN will receive clinical oversight from a licensed Registered Nurse.

The LPN must:

Follow the clinical direction and nursing assignments provided by the RN. Immediately contact the RN regarding significant medical, behavioral, psychiatric, or medication-related concerns. Practice only within the authorized scope of an LPN license. Seek guidance when an assignment exceeds the LPN's training, competency, or scope of practice. Participate in nursing supervision, competency reviews, and required clinical training. Minimum Qualifications Current and unrestricted Virginia LPN license or valid multistate license authorizing practice in Virginia. Graduate of an approved practical nursing program. Current CPR and First Aid certification. Ability to successfully complete required criminal background checks and registry searches. Knowledge of medication administration and nursing documentation. Ability to recognize and respond to medical and behavioral emergencies. Effective verbal, written, and electronic communication skills. Ability to use an electronic health record and medication administration system. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries. Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with the supervising RN. Ability to work assigned day, evening, overnight, weekend, or holiday shifts. Preferred Experience Behavioral health or psychiatric nursing Crisis stabilization services Substance use treatment Residential treatment Community-based behavioral health services Supporting individuals with mental health diagnoses or co-occurring disorders Crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation Physical and Work Requirements Applicants must be able to: Remain awake and alert for the entire eight-hour shift. Stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, and move throughout the program. Respond promptly during medical or behavioral emergencies. Perform CPR and First Aid. Work in an environment where individuals may experience agitation, emotional distress, verbal aggression, or other crisis-related symptoms. Complete written and electronic documentation. Compensation and Benefits This is an hourly, non-exempt position. This position does not include health insurance, paid vacation, retirement benefits, or other employer-sponsored benefits.
