Category Schools - LPN Nurse Job Type Contract Seeking a skilled nursing professional for a rewarding contract opportunity working one-on-one with a first-grade student in a dynamic school environment near Newport News, VA. This full-time position runs from ASAP through the end of the school year, offering a meaningful chance to make a positive impact in a young learner's daily life.
Key Qualifications:
Active LPN, LVN, or RN license (required) Demonstrated experience with tracheostomy and ventilator care Experience in school nursing or pediatric settings preferred Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations Current CPR certification
Your Responsibilities:
Provide dedicated 1:1 nursing care for a first-grade student during school hours Monitor and support trach/vent care, maintaining vigilance over health status and respiratory needs Administer prescribed treatments, medications, and emergency interventions as outlined in the care plan Work closely with teachers, school staff, and guardians to ensure the student's well-being and participate in IEP or related meetings as needed Maintain accurate nursing documentation and health records in compliance with school and state guidelines Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment that supports the student's safety and participation in educational activities This engaging school-based opportunity is ideal for compassionate nurses who thrive in supportive, child-centered settings and bring specialized skills to pediatric care.
