WAY Wellness Center is hiring a licensed massage therapist to join our team of highly skilled practitioners! This LMT should also be interested in providing care to Veterans through the VA Community Care massage therapy program. The description is long because it is a contract position and we want to be fully transparent about every aspect. This is an independent contractor position. You choose and set your hours on the available days, and have control over your schedule including breaks and days off. This is not a W-2. It is a 1099 position. There is no paid time off or paid benefits. Regular (non-insurance)

Clients:

This position will include providing a variety of massage therapy session types, including therapeutic, relaxation, medical, and other specialty massage or bodywork. We do not currently offer traditional spa services such as hot stones, body scrubs, etc. We are open to discussion on this if the therapist wants to offer these and provide their own tools to do so. We are also open to adding other specialty massage or bodywork services for an LMT who has the training/certification for services we currently do not offer. Pay for regular services is 60/40 commission split paid on a monthly basis. All therapists receive increase to 70/30 after 90 days. If you have your own pre-existing clientele to bring to the practice, 70/30 commission from day one. Scheduling includes 30 min between all appointments. All pay is based on commission rate of a completed appointment or on the cancellation fee. There is no pay for "down time" or breaks. Clients:

In addition, this position has the opportunity to work with VA clients who are receiving care through the VA Community Care program. These clients receive 12 approved appointments within an authorization period. Typically this is 90 days or 180 days, meaning these clients come in at least weekly or bi-weekly. This is your opportunity to really see how incredibly effective massage therapy can be in treating chronic pain issues. We rarely have the opportunity to see clients weekly for 12 sessions. It really does make a difference in the lives of these veterans! Pay per session is $50 until the LMT is fully credentialed and aligned to our group. Once the credentialing and alignment process is complete, pay per session is $55. You may choose to see the veteran for a full 60-min session with a 30-min break for yourself after the appointment, or you may choose to schedule them on the hour for 53-minute sessions with no break between the sessions. Pay is per session - if you see the veteran for 53-min with no break after or 60-min with the break after - you still are only paid the per session rate. This is due to insurance reimbursements. VA clients cannot be charged a late cancel or no show fee. This is based on the rules set by their insurer and the government. The office will provide as much support to the LMT as possible to ensure they have a full schedule and if there are veteran client cancellations to contact waitlist clients and schedule them. About you:

Licensed to practice massage therapy in Pennsylvania. Insured to practice massage therapy in Pennsylvania. CPR-certified. Interested in a 6-month or 12-month contract period with option to renew at end of contract. We are hoping for someone interested in growing a solid career and practice! At least 3 years of professional therapeutic massage experience, with at least 6 months of that experience in a wellness center, chiropractor's office, independent practice, or medical office. Most of our clients need therapeutic treatment, not routines. If you do not have 3 years as a massage therapist, other applicable experience or newly licensed therapists with strong references will also be considered. Knowledgeable in treating complex clients often with multiple medical conditions or severe chronic pain. Specialty certifications welcome but not necessary. Open to Traditional and Classical Chinese Medicine and homeopathy as practices, even if you don't personally receive treatments or are not familiar with the practices. Accountable, responsible, team player who understands the importance of honesty, reliability, completing documentation in a timely manner, and understands the need for clear and open communication from day one. Autonomous, motivated, and understands the role of the independent contractor in promoting self and securing own clients in addition to working with clients the office provides or refers. Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in written form, including documentation, email, and use of Slack app (we use it as a messaging tool). Comfortable in establishing personal preferences, boundaries, and needs in the role as you become adjusted to the responsibilities. Interested in seeing veterans as a Community Care Network provider. Must have an NPI number or begin the process of securing one upon hire. It is free to register for an NPI. Must begin credentialing process with Optum (VA insurance) upon hire. It is free to become credentialed with Optum. You must agree to maintain credentialing once it is confirmed in order to continue seeing VA clients. This is also free to maintain.

About the position:

Fridays, Saturdays, and possibly Sundays depending on therapist interest. Hours available beginning October 1 between 9am and 8:00pm. You make your own schedule and set your own breaks between those hours. This is not an 11-hour shift. It is a timeframe in which to choose your hours. Pay is once per month at the beginning of the month. Any cash tips are 100% yours. Cash tips go home with you that day. Veterans/Insurance clients do not tip often; full transparency. Our office handles and pays for all insurance billing and credit card fees.
