Responsibilities Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature. Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort throughout their visit. Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration under supervision, and basic life support (BLS) procedures. Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring accurate documentation of patient encounters, medical records, and procedural notes in compliance with privacy regulations. Support medical office management by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and handling administrative duties related to medical documentation and ICD coding. Assist with laboratory procedures including specimen collection and processing for pathology or pharmacology testing. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control protocols in outpatient or hospital settings such as Level I or Level II trauma centers. Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in hospital medicine or surgical units to ensure seamless patient care transitions. Experience Prior medical office experience is required; familiarity with EMR/EHR systems is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and ICD coding is essential for accurate documentation and billing processes. Experience working in dermatology clinics or hospital environments—including inpatient or outpatient units—is highly desirable. Hands-on experience with phlebotomy, medication administration, vital signs collection, and medical assisting procedures is necessary. Background working within emergency or urgent care settings or Level I/II trauma centers will be considered a strong asset. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as Medical Assistant certification or OR experience are advantageous.
