Job Summary We are seeking an experienced, highly skilled, and compassionate Medical Assistant II (Senior Medical Assistant) to join our healthcare team. This role is designed for a seasoned Medical Assistant with 2-3+ years of recent hands-on clinical experience who can work independently in a fast-paced urgent care environment with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in both clinical and administrative responsibilities, possess excellent patient care skills, and have the confidence to manage the clinic workflow as a Solo Medical Assistant when needed. Experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, trauma centers, or high-volume outpatient settings is strongly preferred. The Medical Assistant II serves as a clinical leader by maintaining high standards of patient care, ensuring compliance with clinical protocols, supporting providers efficiently, and mentoring less experienced staff when required. Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities Independently perform comprehensive patient intake, including obtaining and documenting detailed medical histories, chief complaints, medications, allergies, and vital information accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Accurately measure and document vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, oxygen saturation, height, weight, temperature, and pain assessments. Demonstrate proficiency in administering vaccines and injections following physician orders and established clinical protocols. Perform venipuncture and phlebotomy with a high degree of competency while maintaining specimen integrity. Perform occupational medicine services including Respirator Fit Testing, Drug and Alcohol Collections, DOT Physical support, Vision testing, EKGs Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while ensuring patient comfort and safety. Anticipate provider needs during examinations and procedures to maximize efficiency and patient throughput. Assist physicians with wound care, splinting, suture setup and removal, incision and drainage procedures, orthopedic procedures, and other clinical interventions. Support providers during X-ray procedures and other diagnostic testing while adhering to radiation safety protocols. Collect, label, process, and prepare laboratory specimens according to regulatory standards. Dispense medications and medical appliances as ordered by the treating provider. Educate patients regarding medications, treatment plans, follow-up instructions, discharge care, and preventive health measures. Recognize urgent clinical situations and respond appropriately using Basic Life Support (BLS) protocols until additional medical assistance is available. Maintain strict adherence to OSHA, HIPAA, infection prevention, and safety guidelines. Administrative Responsibilities Efficiently manage patient flow to minimize wait times while maintaining quality patient care. Perform patient check-in, registration, insurance verification, scheduling, referrals, and check-out when required. Answer incoming telephone calls professionally and appropriately triage patient inquiries. Ensure accurate ICD coding and clinical documentation to support appropriate billing and regulatory compliance. Maintain complete and accurate patient records within the EHR. Monitor daily inventory levels and proactively reorder medical supplies to avoid shortages. Maintain calibration, maintenance logs, and quality assurance records for medical equipment. Prepare daily opening and closing clinic procedures. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and workflow optimization. Attend staff meetings, mandatory training, and continuing education sessions. Leadership & Professional Responsibilities Serve as a resource for newly hired Medical Assistants by providing guidance and mentoring. Demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment and decision-making within the Medical Assistant scope of practice. Maintain professionalism during high-volume periods and effectively prioritize competing responsibilities. Assist the Center Administrator and providers with operational initiatives to improve clinic efficiency. Demonstrate flexibility by cross-training and supporting both Front Office and Back Office operations. Work independently as the Solo Medical Assistant while maintaining excellent patient care and clinic workflow. Perform additional duties assigned by the Center Administrator or Medical Providers. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Current Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA, or equivalent) is required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Minimum of 2-3 years of recent full-time Medical Assistant experience AFTER completion of externship is required. Experience in Urgent Care, Emergency Department, Trauma Center, Occupational Medicine, or high-volume outpatient clinics is strongly preferred. Candidates with only externship experience are not eligible for this position. Schedule Requirements Must be available to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on clinic needs. Must be flexible to work opening and closing shifts. Reliable transportation and dependable attendance are essential.

Pay:
