UHP is currently affiliated with 182 providers consisting of 119 physicians and 63 advanced practice providers operating out of 54 locations across Southern, Central, and Northern California.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant is responsible for patient care delivery by working cooperatively with all staff members in planning, performing, assisting with procedures, appointments, patient relations, follow up care, and other tasks as requested by a physician. The Medical Assistant is expected to adhere to all standards of healthcare to provide a professional, comfortable, and efficient work environment for patients, physicians, and staff members. What you will be doing Ensure efficient turnover of patient rooms and maintain timely daily schedule flow.
Provide patient care:
taking vitals, documenting intake forms (this may include portal assistance), medical history, explain procedure instructions, assist with follow up care instructions as needed.
Maintain Instruments and Equipment:
sterilized, disinfect, autoclaved, and follow proper equipment cleaning and storage per item specifications. Submit prior authorizations for ordered medications, procedures, and labs. Assist with updating supply order lists, ensure supplies are up to date and fully stocked; prevent supply shortage. Assist physicians and staff members with procedures: patient room and tray setup, specimen collection and transport, phlebotomy, administer injections, and medication preparation (reconstitution). Daily preparation of
EMR:
Retrieve and uploading of labs, diagnostic studies, post op reports, authorizations, and any documentation necessary for patient upcoming appointments. Confirm medication/s or supplies are in stock prior to patient appointments. What you will bring to the team Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion is a plus Phlebotomy Certificate is a plus High school diploma or GED certificate required. 0-3 years of healthcare experience preferred including Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system experience. Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred (languages may vary by location based on patient population). Employees may be asked to assist with patient communication or interpretation in their language(s) of fluency, as appropriate, to support patient care and operational needs. Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Travel Occasional travel to any of the UNIO locations may be required.
