This position combines traditional Medical Assistant duties with medical coding, documentation review, preventive care coordination, and quality-measure compliance. Responsibilities Perform patient intake for in-person and telemedicine visits, including histories, medications, allergies, vital signs, and other required information. Assist providers with patient care, procedures, referrals, labs, imaging, prescriptions, and follow-up coordination. Maintain accurate and complete electronic medical records. Review charts prior to appointments and identify missing records, preventive-care needs, and quality-measure gaps. Perform medication reconciliation and assist with preventive screenings and assessments. Review documentation for appropriate CPT, HCPCS, and
ICD-10-CM
coding . Assist with coding office visits, preventive services, screenings, counseling services, and telehealth encounters. Identify incomplete documentation or coding issues before claims are submitted. Assist with appropriate modifiers, place-of-service coding, and payer-specific billing requirements. Monitor and document applicable Medicare, HEDIS, MIPS, and commercial payer quality measures . Track care gaps involving blood pressure, BMI, depression screening, tobacco and alcohol screening, diabetes care, fall risk, cancer screening, Annual Wellness Visits, and other preventive services. Assist with chart audits, quality reports, payer requests, and compliance reviews. Schedule appointments, verify insurance, obtain medical records, coordinate referrals, and communicate with patients and outside facilities. Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality. Requirements Current, valid Medical Assistant license/certification required. Prior Medical Assistant experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and EHR/EMR systems. Familiarity with CPT, HCPCS, and
ICD-10-CM
coding . Experience with medical billing, Medicare, preventive services, or quality measures preferred. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with patients, providers, billing staff, and insurance companies. Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare documentation requirements. Preferred Experience with Medicare Annual Wellness Visits, telehealth workflows, HEDIS/MIPS measures, chart auditing, or coding compliance. CPC or other medical coding certification is a plus.
Pay:
$17.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 - 40.0 per week
