Medical Assistant

SUMMARY:

The interoffice clinical Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting physicians and the clinical services manager.

HOURS:

Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM, overtime possible

LOCATIONS

Applicants must be willing to travel to the following office locations: Laguna Hills, Mission Viejo, Fountain Valley, Irvine, Newport Beach and San Clemente.

Job responsibilities include:

Obtaining, verifying and recording health history of patients. Gathering pertinent health data through physical assessment and biological samples. Collecting and processing specimens for laboratory analysis. Providing basic patient care as ordered. Administering medications and treatments as directed. Assisting other health care professionals in performing exams, diagnostic procedures and treatments, and minor medical procedures. Adhering to infection control, safety guidelines and confidentiality policies. Documenting assessments, interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed and test results in medical records.

Education & Experience Required:

High school diploma or equivalent required Medical assistant (MA) certificate required One year of MA experience preferred Clinic experience preferred Qualified candidates must have strong interpersonal skills, must be able to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, and effectively communicate and interact with diverse patient populations.

Skills & Qualifications:

Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology. Familiarity with health care systems, regulations, policies and functions, and documentation standards. Knowledge of equipment, supplies and materials needed for medical treatment. Understanding of basic laboratory procedures including preparation and screening. Knowledge of infectious disease management and control and safety standards. Skill in reading and following written and oral medical orders. Skill in initiating appropriate emergency procedures. Ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses. Ability to handle effectively multiple tasks simultaneously.

Pay:

$22.00 - $27.00 per hour
