Back Office Medical Assistant

Back Office Medical Assistant Position Summary:

The Back Office Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting physicians and clinical staff in delivering high-quality patient care within a private practice setting. This role focuses on clinical and administrative tasks performed behind the scenes to ensure efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and a safe, organized clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare exam rooms, ensuring cleanliness, proper stocking, and readiness for patient visits Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, etc.) Document patient medical histories, chief complaints, and updates in electronic medical records (EMR) Assist physicians during examinations and minor procedures Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider and within scope of practice Perform basic laboratory tests, specimen collection, and processing Maintain infection control standards and adhere to safety protocols Manage clinical supplies and inventory, including ordering and restocking Handle patient follow-ups, including lab results, referrals, and care instructions Ensure accurate charting and compliance with HIPAA and clinic policies

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant certification preferred Previous experience in a clinical or private practice setting strongly preferred Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and EMR systems Strong organizational and multitasking skills Excellent communication and patient care skills Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Ability to stand for extended periods Manual dexterity to perform clinical tasks
