Allergy & Immunology Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to physicians and providers in a fast-paced allergy and immunology practice. This position assists with patient care, allergy testing, immunotherapy injections, patient education, inventory management, and daily office operations while ensuring excellent patient service and compliance with practice policies and procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical history, and medication information. Prepare patients for examination and treatment. Assist providers with examinations and procedures. Administer allergy immunotherapy injections according to established protocols. Monitor patients for adverse reactions following allergy injections. Perform allergy skin testing, patch testing, pulmonary function testing, and other diagnostic procedures as directed. Prepare and maintain treatment rooms and clinical equipment. Provide patient education regarding allergy treatment plans, medications, and immunotherapy protocols. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR). Process prescription refill requests and prior authorizations as directed. Follow infection control and safety guidelines. Administrative Responsibilities Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries professionally. Manage patient records and ensure documentation is complete and accurate. Verify insurance information and obtain necessary authorizations. Assist with medical records requests, and patient communications. Support front-office operations as needed. Inventory and Office Operations Monitor and maintain adequate clinical supply inventory. Receive, stock, and organize medical supplies and biologics. Ensure inventory is entered into inventory management systems within required timeframes. Monitor expiration dates and assist with inventory counts. Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas. Assist with office opening and closing procedures. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical Assistant certification Current CPR certification required or obtained within designated timeframe. Medical office experience required Proficient computer skills and experience with EMR systems. Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Work Schedule Monday, Wednesday, and Friday:
8:00 AM - 5:00
PM Tuesday and Thursday:
9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Additional hours, schedule adjustments, and travel to other clinic locations may be required based on business needs and staffing coverage.
