Medical Assistant Job Description The Medical Assistant provides safe and efficient patient care services under the supervision and direction of a licensed provider and nurse. This role involves performing various administrative duties and requires completion of training and competencies necessary for a medical technician to care for clinic patients. The position is back-office focused, primarily involving charting for a general practice clinic in a clinical setting. Responsibilities Take vital signs including blood pressure, heart rate, age, weight, and temperature. Room patients and set up files for the doctor. Prepare rooms and stock supplies after the patient leaves. Work collaboratively with one provider. Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Assist with patient care and customer service. Perform phlebotomy and other medical assisting tasks. Schedule appointments and verify insurance. Educate patients about their health care. Essential Skills Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant. Experience working in urgent care or internal medicine settings preferred. Reliability to work 40 hours per week. Experience with phlebotomy Proficiency in medical terminology and healthcare practices. Ability to perform insurance verification and patient education. Additional Skills & Qualifications Medical Assisting Diploma. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Work Environment The work environment is a fast-paced clinic setting with hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The clinic houses 17 providers across several specializations and includes an on-site lab and imaging center. Staff enjoy a team environment with daily catered lunches provided by doctors. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
