Company Overview American Family Care (AFC) is one of the largest primary and urgent care companies in the U.S. providing services seven days a week on a walk-in basis. Our state-of-the-art centers focus on the episodic treatment of acute illnesses and injuries, workers' compensation, and occupational medicine. Each location is equipped with an onsite lab and in-house x-ray capability. AFC is the parent company of AFC Franchising, LLC (AFCF). This position works directly with a franchised business location. The specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises. Job Summary Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. Responsibilities Assist with interviewing, hiring and training Medical Assistant staff Be available to cover shifts when staff call in Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions Responsible for lab compliances; must be organized! Coordinate oversight of laboratory with Medical Director as needed Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations Ensure patient immunizations are well documented, administered in accordance with approved procedure, and stored appropriately Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures Corrective action conversations with back office employees Maintain complete and accurate documentation Other duties and responsibilities as assigned Qualifications Six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
