Asst Prof/Clinical - Minimally Invasive Surgery University of Connecticut - 4.2 Farmington, CT Job Details 1 hour ago Qualifications Robotic systems BC/BE Full Job Description Assistant/Associate Professor In-Residence - Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS/Robotic Surgery) Division of General Surgery | Department of Surgery | UConn Health Position Overview The Department of Surgery at UConn Health is seeking a full-time faculty member in the In-Residence track at the Assistant or Associate Professor level specializing in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery. The successful candidate will join a growing academic surgical program and perform complex abdominal operations, including hernia and abdominal wall reconstruction, revisional bariatric surgery, complex upper gastrointestinal procedures, as well as a broad range of elective and emergency general surgery cases. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the continued advancement of a dynamic academic medical center committed to excellence in clinical care, education, research, and surgical innovation. Key Responsibilities The faculty member will have primary responsibilities in clinical service, teaching, and scholarly activity. Clinical Care Provide comprehensive surgical care for patients within the Division of General Surgery Perform complex MIS and robotic procedures, including abdominal wall reconstruction, revisional bariatric surgery, and upper GI surgery Participate in inpatient consultations, admissions, and outpatient surgical care at John Dempsey Hospital and affiliated clinics Report directly to the Chief of General Surgery in the delivery of clinical services Leadership & Administration Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols and pathways for complex surgical conditions, including abdominal wall reconstruction, bariatric revision surgery, and upper GI surgery Collaborate with the Surgical Quality Officer on quality improvement initiatives Ensure compliance with UConn Health policies, procedures, and standards of care Education & Supervision Participate actively in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows Supervise and train advanced practice providers, including APRNs and Physician Assistants Engage in surgical teaching activities at John Dempsey Hospital and affiliated outpatient settings Scholarship Participate in clinical research and/or other scholarly activities consistent with departmental goals Minimum Qualifications Completion of an accredited General Surgery residency Board certified or board eligible in General Surgery Fellowship training in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery This position offers the opportunity to join an expanding academic surgical program with strong institutional support, a collaborative environment, and a commitment to advancing excellence in patient care and surgical education.
