Job Description

Bay Harbor Pediatrics is dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare services in Pediatric Health We are seeking a strong Medical Assistant to join our team. In this vital role, you will contribute to our mission by providing excellent patient care and administrative support, ensuring a seamless experience for our patients. The Pediatric Medical Assistant works under the supervision of a licensed physician to ensure a safe, comforting, and efficient clinical environment. The assistant is responsible for both helping at front-office and back-office duties, from scheduling and patient intake to assisting with examinations and administering treatments.
Patient intake:
Escort patients and families to exam rooms, record patient medical histories, and document chief complaints.
Vital signs and measurements:
Accurately measure and record vital signs, including height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure, adjusting techniques for young or anxious patients.
Patient preparation:
Prepare patients for examinations and medical procedures, explaining the process in a calm, child-friendly manner.
Specimen collection:
Collect and label lab specimens, such as blood, urine, and throat cultures, following all safety protocols.
Injections and immunizations:
Administer prescribed medications and immunizations under the direction of a physician, which often requires effective distraction and calming techniques.
Assist during exams:
Hand instruments to the physician, help position the child, and support the patient during minor procedures.
Maintain exam rooms:
Keep clean and stock treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies before, during, and after patient visits.
Patient education:
Provide aftercare instructions and health education to parents and caregivers on topics such as nutrition, medication, and developmental milestones.
