Job Description

The Position is responsible for daily operation related to patient flow, assisting the physician, mid level providers and maintaining medical records. This person is accountable to the physician and Practice Manager, This position requires the availability to work overtime, lift up to 45lbs, squat, bend, twist, stand on feet for long periods of time.
Duties are as follows:
Maintain, scan, file all patient charts, labs, reports. Perform blood draws and prepare lab requisition forms for the appropriate laboratory. Procure all labs, test results and medical records prior to patients' appointment. Maintain the neat appearance and cleanliness of exam rooms. Ensure that all necessary equipment, instruments, supplies, gowns, and linens are ready for use. Make sure the office is in OSHA compliance. Inspect patient files to ensure completeness of the clinical record before examination. Escort and prepare patients for examination. Note the patient's complaint. Take weight, height, other vital signs, and medication history when needed. Prepare medications and give injections as directed by the physician. Document in the injection log and in Athena Health. Instruct patients regarding tests. Record and maintain labs, other test data in the patient's chart. Upon approval by the doctor, communicate test results to patient. Document interaction on the patient chart. Maintain adequate medical supplies. Initiate orders for replenishment as needed. Fill in and assist other staff during their absence or work overload. Perform other tasks as requested by the doctor. Assist other office personnel when available (i.e., when patients are not being seen in the office and duties have been completed). Handle telephone communications and requests for prescription refills and prior authorizations, authorized by the physician. Assist and train in all procedures. Maintain all exam rooms with patient educational material, brochures and ABN forms. Perform blood draws and prepare lab requisition forms for the appropriate laboratory. Preferred candidates will have IV knowledge and experience but not required.
