About the Role As a Medical Assistant, you will play an important role in delivering an exceptional patient experience in a collaborative, team-based environment. Under the direct supervision and responsibility of a physician or physician assistant, you will assist with clinical and administrative aspects of the medical practice while helping ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care. What You'll Do Provide excellent customer service and create a welcoming patient experience Prepare patients for examinations and procedures Collect, communicate, and accurately document patient information Perform phlebotomy and point-of-care testing Assist providers with minor procedures Collect and process laboratory specimens Safely operate medical equipment Provide patients with appropriate instructions and education Handle and administer medications according to regulatory standards and organizational policies under the direct supervision of a physician or physician assistant Maintain accurate and complete medical records Coordinate requests for prescriptions and medical information Prepare and maintain patient care areas for safe and efficient care delivery Follow organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor What We're Looking For Education High School Diploma or GED required Completion of a medical assisting program or postsecondary medical assisting program accredited to prepare the Medical Assistant to take a national certification examination is preferred Experience Medical Assistant experience preferred Medical Assistant experience is not required for graduates within two years of completing an accredited medical assisting program One year of recent Medical Assistant experience in a physician's office or hospital outpatient department may be accepted in lieu of a degree/diploma from an accredited medical assisting program Certifications One of the following Medical Assistant certifications is preferred: CMA American Association of Medical Assistants CCMA National Healthcareer Association RMA American Medical Technologists BLS American Heart Association required and must be obtained within the first 90 days of hire.
