Job Description

Description Summary/Objective:
Medical Assistants perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. In addition to administrative duties, Medical Assistants perform clinical duties in accordance with state law and Clinic requirement. Essential Functions Summons and prepares patient for office visit. Assists the physician with medical office procedures Administers medication, including injections; documents medication given or prescribed by ordering physicians as required by specialty. Adheres to nursing policy and procedure when documenting information in patient's medical record. Maintains the integrity of the office Performs additional duties specific to the specialty, and/or acquires additional license or credentials. Accepts responsibility for reading and referencing new policies and procedures and Nursing Update newsletters and assumes responsibility for maintaining current certification in CPR.
Requirements Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or 1 year of Medical Assistant work experience within the last 2 years. Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment. Current BLS certification or to be completed within first 90 days of employment.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience or training in a medical health care facility as a Medical Assistant
