Duties Assist pediatric patients and their families with check-in, rooming, preparation for examinations, and other clinical needs while ensuring comfort and safety. Obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, medical histories, and other patient information accurately. Prepare examination rooms, medical supplies, and equipment while maintaining a clean, safe, and infection-controlled environment. Assist physicians and other healthcare providers with pediatric examinations, procedures, and treatments within the scope of the Medical Assistant role. Perform or assist with clinical tasks appropriate to training and employer requirements, such as phlebotomy, specimen collection, injections, EKGs, and other basic clinical procedures. Document patient care, clinical information, and services accurately in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Provide compassionate emotional support and reassurance to children and their families, helping create a welcoming and trusting healthcare experience. Communicate with parents, caregivers, physicians, nurses, therapists, and other members of the healthcare team to support coordinated patient care. Recognize and promptly report changes in a patient's condition or concerns to the appropriate healthcare provider. Assist with patient education and reinforce instructions provided by physicians and other licensed healthcare professionals. Qualifications Valid Medical Assistant (MA) credential , such as a Medical Assistant certification, certificate, diploma, or degree from an accredited or recognized program, as applicable to the candidate's training and state/employer requirements. Pediatric Medical Assistant certification such as CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent is preferred where applicable. Experience working with children in settings such as pediatric offices, hospitals, clinics, urgent care, home care, or other healthcare environments. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and accurate medical documentation. Experience with clinical procedures such as vital signs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, injections, EKGs, and patient rooming is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children with developmental disabilities, behavioral health needs, or other special healthcare needs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with children, families, and healthcare team members. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare environment. Current CPR/BLS certification is preferred or may be required based on the position and employer requirements.
