Job Description

Medical Assistant (Cardiology or Specialty Practice preffered) Overview The Cardiovascular Center of Florida is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant (MA) to join our outpatient cardiology practice. This position supports physicians and clinical staff in providing high-quality patient care within a fast-paced cardiovascular environment. The ideal candidate has previous cardiology experience, strong clinical skills, and the ability to work efficiently while maintaining a positive and professional patient experience. Position Summary The Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting daily clinical operations including patient intake, vital signs, EKGs, room preparation, clinical documentation, coordination of patient care activities, and assisting providers during examinations and procedures. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy outpatient setting. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical history updates, medication reconciliation, and chief complaints Perform 12-lead EKGs and document results accurately within the electronic medical record Prepare exam rooms and assist providers during patient visits and in-office procedures within MA scope of practice Review and prepare patient charts, diagnostic results, and documentation prior to scheduled appointments Assist with stress test preparation, Holter monitor workflows, cardiac monitor placement/removal, and other cardiology-related clinical support duties Communicate patient concerns, abnormal findings, or changes in condition to providers and licensed clinical staff promptly Support prescription refill requests, prior authorizations, referrals, and patient follow-up coordination Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record system Clean and stock exam rooms, maintain clinical supplies, and ensure equipment readiness throughout the day Follow HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention, and organizational policies and procedures Communicate professionally with patients, providers, pharmacies, hospitals, and interdisciplinary teams Support front and back office workflows as needed to maintain efficient clinic operations Qualifications Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required Current CMA, RMA, or equivalent certification preferred Current BLS certification required Minimum of 2 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred Previous cardiology experience strongly preferred Experience performing EKGs required Familiarity with electronic medical record systems required Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required Ability to work in a fast-paced outpatient clinical environment required Benefits May Include Competitive compensation Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Opportunities for professional growth Supportive team environment If you are an experienced Medical Assistant looking to grow within a cardiology practice, we encourage you to apply with The Cardiovascular Center of Florida.
