Non-Exempt Job Summary The Medical Assistant supports the delivery of high-quality patient care in a primary care office setting by performing clinical and administrative tasks under the direction of licensed healthcare providers. This role ensures efficient patient flow, accurate clinical documentation, and a positive patient experience while maintaining compliance with applicable healthcare regulations. This office is a small Primary Care office and the Medical Assistant does float between the front and back office. Essential Functions Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during visits. Obtain and record vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints. Perform basic clinical procedures within scope of training. Administer medications and immunizations as directed. Prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain clinical supplies. Perform phlebotomy and process laboratory specimens as applicable. Document patient information accurately in the EHR. Schedule appointments and assist with patient flow as needed. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and safety standards. Provide courteous, compassionate, and professional patient care. Required Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred. Required Experience Minimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience preferred. New graduates may be considered with appropriate clinical training.
Licenses / Certifications
CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent preferred. Current BLS/CPR certification required or obtained within designated timeframe. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures. Strong communication and organizational skills. Proficiency with EHR systems and office technology. Physical Demands Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Work Environment Primary care medical office setting. Exposure to medical instruments and communicable diseases.
