Upon credentialing Position Overview Wellington Medical Center is seeking an experienced Full-Time Pathologists' Assistant to join its hospital-based pathology team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, high-volume acute care environment focused on delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality diagnostic pathology services. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, efficient, and comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical pathology setting alongside board-certified pathologists and laboratory professionals. Key Responsibilities Perform gross examination, dissection, and sampling of surgical pathology specimens Accurately describe and document gross findings for a wide range of specimen types Prepare and assist with intraoperative frozen sections under pathologist supervision Manage and triage specimens across multiple surgical subspecialties, including: Breast Gastrointestinal Genitourinary Gynecologic Thoracic Head & Neck Neuropathology (as applicable) Limited hematopathology specimens Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and processing in accordance with laboratory protocols Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the pathology information system Collaborate closely with pathologists, laboratory staff, and clinical teams to support efficient workflow Support quality assurance and compliance standards within the pathology department Qualifications Certified Pathologists' Assistant (PA[ASCP]) required Active Florida licensure or eligibility required Prior experience in surgical pathology grossing strongly preferred Experience with frozen section preparation preferred Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and teamwork skills Position Highlights Full-time, stable hospital-based role No autopsy responsibilities Supportive pathology department with structured gross room workflow Opportunity to work alongside experienced board-certified pathologists Exposure to a broad surgical case mix in a community hospital setting Competitive compensation (based on experience) About Wellington Medical Center Wellington Medical Center is a full-service acute care hospital located in Wellington, Florida , serving the rapidly growing Palm Beach County community.
