Job Description

The Medical Assistant will support physicians and clinical staff in delivering high-quality patient care for individuals undergoing evaluation and treatment for sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, and related conditions. The Medical Assistant may also perform phlebotomy collection as well as assist in obtaining timely prior authorizations and precertification from insurance carriers.
Job Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical histories, and medication lists Assist providers with clinical procedures and patient care Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection as needed Demonstrate and troubleshoot CPAP/BiPAP equipment as needed Perform routine clinical tasks in accordance with practice protocols and state regulations Coordinate home sleep testing setup and patient instructions Process prescription refills and durable medical equipment (DME) orders Administrative Duties Schedule patients for examination and sleep-related consultations Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries professionally Take estimated payments before scheduling the study Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) Verify patient insurance benefits and authorization requirements prior to scheduled services Track authorization numbers and validity dates Gather medical documentation and ensure HIPAA compliance Follow up with insurance for approvals, denials, or additional information Communicate authorization outcomes so patients can be scheduled Coordinate referrals and communicate with primary care providers and specialists
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent 6+ months minimum medical office experience, required Experience with insurance, prior authorizations (Medicare and commercial plans) preferred Knowledge of EMR - eClinicalWorks Phlebotomy experience required or strongly preferred Minimum of 1 year of medical assistant experience preferred Willingness to be cross trained in multiple clinical and administrative functions Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Salary:
$15-$17 /hour
