Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated Part Time Corrections Medical Assistant to support healthcare services within correctional facility settings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical assisting, with experience in hospital medicine, urgent care, and outpatient environments. This role involves providing compassionate patient care, assisting with medical procedures, and supporting clinical operations in a secure correctional environment. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to vital healthcare services while working flexible hours. Responsibilities Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, vital signs measurement, and documentation of medical histories in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Support clinical procedures including phlebotomy, medication administration, and basic life support (BLS) as required within correctional facilities. Maintain accurate medical records, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and proper ICD coding for diagnoses. Prepare examination rooms and ensure all medical supplies are stocked and properly sterilized for daily use. Support patient service activities by providing clear communication, addressing patient inquiries, and ensuring a respectful environment. Assist with medication management and documentation of treatments administered during outpatient visits or inpatient stays. Follow safety protocols specific to correctional healthcare settings while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality at all times. Skills Proven experience in medical assisting within hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient settings. Knowledge of dermatology, internal medicine, emergency medicine, geriatrics, and physiology fundamentals. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and ICD coding practices. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medication administration procedures. Experience with phlebotomy, vital signs collection, and basic life support certification (BLS). Ability to manage medical documentation accurately while maintaining confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Excellent patient service skills combined with effective communication and teamwork abilities.
