Summary:
The Medical Assistant supports providers and clinical staff in delivering high-quality patient care within the clinic. This role is responsible for preparing patients for examinations, assisting with procedures, maintaining accurate patient records, and supporting daily clinical operations. The Medical Assistant also communicates with patients regarding clinical concerns, lab results, and prescription refills while ensuring a professional and compassionate patient experience. Duties & Responsibilities:
Obtains and updates patient information, ensuring patient records, forms, and consent documents are complete and accurate. Prepares patients for examination by obtaining vital signs and documenting relevant medical history. Returns patient phone calls and responds to electronic messages regarding clinical questions, lab results, prescription refills, and other patient concerns, consulting with providers when necessary. Prepares examination rooms and equipment before patient visits. Assists physicians and providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments. Administers injections, medications, and performs routine specimen collection and testing as directed. Cleans and prepares examination rooms, beds, and instruments between patient visits. Maintains stocked exam rooms with necessary medical supplies and equipment. Supports clinic operations by assisting with tasks such as organizing supplies, managing laundry, and assisting other providers as needed. Maintains accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Abilities :
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and healthcare staff. Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and patient care practices. Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with healthcare privacy regulations. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate medical documentation. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with electronic medical records systems.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant certification program preferred. Previous experience in a clinical or medical office setting preferred. Knowledge of patient care procedures, examination protocols, and administrative processes in a healthcare environment.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the clinical environment. Frequent bending, reaching, and assisting with patient positioning during exams or procedures. Ability to lift or move medical supplies or equipment (up to 25 pounds). Frequent use of computer systems, phones, and medical equipment. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as documentation, instrument preparation, and patient intake procedures. Pay Range:
USD $16.00 - USD $16.00 /Hr.
