Overview The Certified Medical Assistant / Registered Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and patient care support duties in a medical practice to assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensures that the office runs smoothly.

Education:
High School Diploma/GED Responsibilities Rooms patients by collecting pertinent information regarding the patient's chief complaint, family history, social history, surgical history, and medication reconciliation upon arrival for visits. Completes necessary telephone communications with patients, families, pharmacies, and other healthcare facilities as directed. Gathers and maintains patient information via telephone in accordance with department-specific processes and policies. Performs administrative tasks including patient check-in/check-out, prior authorizations, appointment scheduling, benefits verification, and coordination of referrals and testing. Completes office procedures as directed and according to department-specific competencies. Performs procedures such as urine catheterizations, bladder scanning, suture or staple removal, cast application or removal, reading negative TB skin test results, and directing patients with potential positive TB screenings to nursing staff as appropriate. Conducts diagnostic testing at the point of care. Provides patients with written instructions regarding procedures, medications, and follow-up care at the direction of the provider. Retrieves and provides condition-specific patient education materials from approved online, internal, or printed resources per provider direction and orders. Administers medications according to provider orders. Assists with prescription medication refills in accordance with department protocols. Calls prescriptions into pharmacies, notifies patients of refills, and documents all actions within the EMR per provider orders. Maintains department-specific competencies related to point-of-care testing, equipment handling, and specialty training. Obtains patient vital signs and completes the rooming process. Performs point-of-care (POC) testing. Manages EMR in-basket tasks, including medication refills, relaying test results, responding to patient portal messages, and handling telephone communications. Completes pre-visit orders and conducts pre-visit patient calls. Orders medications and injections per provider verbal orders and administers injections as directed. About Us Find it here. Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $18.33per hour•$29.69per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
