Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in preparation of clinic area/exam rooms. Assists with patient intake and discharge. Measures vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight. Assists in transporting/directing patients to clinic areas. Assists providers and other staff members with patient care procedures. Collects specimens as directed. Documents in the medical record as required. Assists in ordering and maintaining supplies. Participates/attends educational programs. Assists with maintaining patient records. Contacts patients/families as directed by providers or licensed nurses. Maintains a clean work environment. Assists with referral tracking. Assists with ICD-10 and CPT coding. Adheres to the terms and conditions set forth in BSHC's corporate compliance program. Ensures confidential information in accordance with BSHC's policy and current HIPAA regulations. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Current training completion certificate as a Medical Assistant required. Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred. Ability to administer injections Excellent customer service skills both in-person and on the telephone. Priority setting skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
Requires moderate to high amount of working, standing, lifting and repetitive tasks. Potential exists for exposure to hazardous risks including infectious diseases, hazardous substances and musculoskeletal injuries. Work is performed in an interior, medical office setting. Nursing units are well-lit, ventilated and meet safety standards.
