Graduated from a medical assistant program and eligible to sit for certification or registration exam (Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), etc.) plus Basic Life Support (BLS) at time of hire through American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification for the Healthcare Provider. Must sit for and successfully pass medical assistant (MA) certification or registration within 1 year of hire. Must advance on TAP ladder within 1 year of hire. Physical Requirements The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds on a daily basis; as well as stand, walk and sit for long periods of time. The conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments. Shift Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, may require some holidays. Other days/times determined by department needs and urgent situations Job Summary Clinically competent certified/registered Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for day to day care of high acuity patient population and/or works in collaboration with clinic supervisors who have over 10 MAs/CST IIIs in their clinic to orient, and train new MA staff. Assists in the creation of programs and processes to enhance the role of the MAs / Techs. Assists in the development of initiatives to improve clinical outcomes reliant on unlicensed assistive personnel role. The Medical Assistant Advanced will work collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to ensure high quality service and excellent outcomes. The MA Advanced will communicate with many members of the healthcare team and beyond representing UKHC and their specific clinic in a positive way and follow UK HealthCare behavioral expectations for service excellence.
