Job Summary:
The Bluegrass Foot Center is seeking a driven and motivated individual looking to expand upon or create new Medical Assisting knowledge to join the team. We aim to create a learning environment in which any new hire is provided adequate training time so they may play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our patients, ensuring a smooth flow of operations within the clinic. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in delivering top-quality care for patients with foot and ankle conditions. While employed with The Bluegrass Foot Centers, you will be given the opportunity to learn, grow, and master basic to expert level medical assisting and customer service skills. Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Provide exceptional care to patients visiting the clinic by assisting with examinations, obtaining medical histories, and documenting patient information accurately. Ensure patients feel comfortable and receive proper instructions related to their treatment plans.
Clinical Support:
Assist the podiatrist during procedures, such as minor wound care, nail treatments, minor procedures, and other task specific to podiatric care. Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and prepare treatment areas.
Administrative Tasks:
Maintain electronic medical records (EMRs), update patient information, manage incoming clinical specific calls, coordinate referrals to specialists and follow up on pending tests or consultations.
Patient Education:
In collaboration and under the direction of associated provider(s), educate patients about their diagnoses, treatment plans, and preventive foot care measures. Offer advice on appropriate footwear, foot maintenance, and home exercises. Address patient questions or concerns, providing clear instructions and information to ensure patient understanding.
Diagnostic Support:
Perform basic diagnostic procedures, such as taking vital signs, measuring foot dimensions, and capturing digital images for further analysis. Assist in the application and removal of casts, splints, or orthotics as directed by the provider.
Sterilization and Compliance:
Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols, including cleaning and sterilizing equipment and packing instruments, while ensuring compliance with clinic policies and regulations.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified medical assistant program preferred. Limited X-Ray experience preferred Prior experience in a clinical setting, preferably within podiatry, is highly desirable. Knowledge of medical terminology related to podiatric care and familiarity with foot anatomy preferred. Proficient in basic medical procedures and techniques, including wound care, and casting/splinting preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with patients and work effectively within a team. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and tact.
