This contract opportunity is ideal for a motivated professional with specialized experience as a Pathology Assistant or Pathologist Assistant, who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Qualifications:
Certification as a Pathologists' Assistant (ASCP) or equivalent Bachelor's degree in a science-related field; Master's preferred Minimum of 1 year experience working as a Pathologist Assistant in a clinical or hospital laboratory Proficiency in grossing surgical pathology specimens, frozen sections, and autopsy assistance Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and regulatory compliance Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical pathology specimens according to established protocols Prepare tissues for microscopic examination, including sectioning, documentation, and submission Assist pathologists with autopsy procedures, specimen photography, and specimen accessioning Maintain meticulous records, ensuring accurate specimen identification and tracking Oversee and participate in laboratory quality assurance activities Adhere to safety guidelines for handling hazardous materials and infectious samples Communicate clearly with clinicians, lab staff, and other healthcare professionals
