Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Medical Assistant II provides advanced clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers and patients. This role involves a combination of patient care, administrative duties, and the management of complex tasks in the medical office or clinical setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Clinical Support:
Assist in the preparation and examination of patients, including taking vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight). Administer medications or injections as prescribed by the physician. Prepare and manage medical equipment and instruments. Prepare and maintain patient records, ensuring all data is accurate and up to date. Sterilize and disinfect medical instruments and equipment. Assist in minor surgeries or procedures, maintaining sterile techniques.
Administrative Duties:
Schedule patient appointments, manage patient flow, and coordinate with other healthcare providers. Handle medical billing and coding tasks, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements. Verify patient insurance details and obtain necessary pre-authorization for treatments or procedures. Process patient intake forms and ensure accurate medical records. Provide patient education regarding treatment plans, procedures, and medications.
Patient Communication:
Communicate effectively with patients regarding appointments, test results, and follow-up care. Address patient inquiries, providing information on health services and assisting with any concerns. Ensure patient confidentiality and privacy in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
Maintain and ensure compliance with health regulations, safety protocols, and the standards of the healthcare facility. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care. Perform JCAHO and OSHA related duties as assigned Other duties as assigned by the Clinic Site Manager
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent or an AA Degree. Requires 3-5 years of experience as a Medical Assistant. Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited MA Program with phlebotomy being a part of the program (CMA or equivalent) preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong knowledge of clinical procedures, medical terminology, and patient care practices. Proficiency in medical software, office equipment, and electronic health records (EHR). Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities, and work effectively in a team.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Candidate must be a Medical Assistant. All candidates will be required to submit to a criminal background check and screening as part of pre-employment.
