Orthopedic Medical Assistant Hand Surgical Associates LTD Metairie, LA Job Details Full-time 8 hours ago Qualifications Clinic experience Orthopedics Full Job Description Position Summary The Orthopedic Medical Assistant is responsible for taking patient medical histories, recording patient information, preparing patients for examination, and assisting the physician during examinations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare the patient for the physician visit by accurately completing the intake process including patient history and medication log and staging diagnostics and imaging Prepare medications for patient treatment by accurately drawing up injections Manage patient treatment sites by taking off and/or applying dressings to the treatment area or removing surgical sutures or staples Create patient splints or casts as need for the patient's specific circumstance Assisting and attend to any physician support as they treat patients in the clinic Sterilize and stock exam rooms and clinical care areas after each patient Accurately complete paperwork and communication to acquire prior authorizations, billing submissions and any other related patient paperwork. Prepare prescription and refills under the supervision of a physician Process physician dictation devices in docking port for transfer and follow-up to ensure completion of transfer Follow up with Patient questions and messages as required to ensure the coordination of care Follow customer services guidelines to keep patients informed of all the logistics related to their episode of care Education and Experience Medical assistant certification from an accredited program preferred Previous experience in an orthopedic clinic required
