Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION
Under the direction of the clinic supervisor, provide the highest standards of clinical support to the dermatology practice. Delivers excellent customer service to patients through participation in a medical care team. Demonstrates a high level of competence with clerical support.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage patient flow for clinicians. Manage clinicians' daily schedule to expedite care and maximize clinical time. Coordinate the practice when clinicians are not available, ensuring that telephone calls are triaged appropriately and clinicians receive necessary information. Monitor practice issues and problems and identify and solve concerns regarding patient satisfaction, patient flow, and compliance with procedures and guidelines. Greet and escort patients to exam rooms. Assist clinician with clinical procedures (biopsies, excisions, cosmetic procedures, etc). Assist in bandaging patients post-procedure and provide wound care instructions. Document patients chief complaint/s, physical examination findings and assessment/plan in the electronic medical record. Document patient allergies, medications, past medical and surgical history and past dermatologic history in the electronic medical record. Ensures that exam rooms are prepared and/or maintained. Cleans and/or maintains supplies and equipment. Receive patient calls and relays the appropriate messages and follows through until the reason for the patients call is resolved. Submit prior authorizations for patient medications, etc. Obtain outside medical records as necessary. Relay laboratory results to patients. Handle pathology specimens and keep a log of the specimens as well as call patients with results and aid in referring patients for further therapy as necessary based on the result. Order all medical supplies and maintain inventory. Provide clerical/office support as necessary. Other duties as assigned. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, and co-workers.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
: High school graduate or equivalent. Associate's degree in medical assisting or graduate of certificate program preferred. A Minimum of two years experience in a clinical setting preferred. Strong interpersonal, customer service, time management skills required. Experience with current office technology, proficient with computer office applications. Prior experience with electronic medical records. Basic Life Support Certification for Health Care Providers required.
