94 United States, Massachusetts, Salem Jun 24, 2026 We are seeking a Medical Assistant to directly support a Nurse Practitioner providing primary care services to an adult Medicaid population with complex medical needs. This position is Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and requires travel between the Salem (331 Highland Ave Salem, MA 01970) and Saugus (1069 Broadway, Saugus, MA 01906) office locations, with Salem coverage on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Saugus coverage on Mondays and Fridays. The remaining weekday will possibly be dedicated to accompanying the Nurse Practitioner on home visits throughout the North Shore region. The MA will be responsible for a blend of clinical and administrative duties including rooming patients, assisting with direct patient care, outreach calls, in-basket management, care coordination, and supporting face-to-face patient visits. The role also requires flexibility to provide cross-coverage for other providers and office staff as needed. We are seeking a highly collaborative, team-oriented Medical Assistant with at least three years of experience who is comfortable working with complex patient populations and capable of managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced primary care environment.
Summary:
The role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. This role involves direct interaction with patients to ensure their comfort and address concerns, as well as collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions
  • Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.
  • Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, and interview patients to obtain medical information, measure their vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in the patient's medical record.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
  • Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
  • Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
  • Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
  • Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.
  • Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
