Job Description

Job Description New England Women's Healthcare seeks Medical Assistant for their busy OB/GYN practice. Responsibilities include triaging patient phone calls in accordance with professional and office protocols, assessing and evaluating their concerns. Directing calls to the appropriate staff or physician, and scheduling appointments. Also includes providing clinical support to physicians and other clinical staff, assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician when needed. Qualifications and Responsibilities
  • Medical Assistant Certification required.
  • Minimum 1-year experience in medical office practice setting.
  • Experience with phone triage is preferred.
  • Answering phone calls & identifying client needs taking messages, and routing appropriately. Notifies physicians or takes steps to locate covering physicians for patient emergencies. Uses sound judgment in triaging patients.
  • Assists physicians and other professional staff in returning telephone calls, calling in prescriptions, and informing patients of results.
  • Electronic medical record software experience a plus.
  • Understanding of Medical Terminology
  • Document basic medical history and confirm purpose of call or visit
  • Prepare patients for examination by taking blood pressure, weight and temperature when needed
  • Explain treatment and procedures to patients, assist the physician during exams when needed
  • Must be able to perform administer vaccines
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
