Job Description

Description:
The Medical Imaging Assistant is responsible for scheduling patients, distribute reports, confirm pre-certification and maintain procedure schedules and training staff as needed. The assistant maintains appropriate spreadsheets, gathers essential technologist's worksheets prior to patient arrival, charts and log forms used by all sections of the department. Attend staff meetings, types and distributes minutes to the appropriate staff.

Requirements:
Education, Training or Certifications Required:
Minimum High School diploma or GED required. Office experience and medical terminology preferred.
Experience Required:
Office/hospital experience preferred.
Special Requirements:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Basic computer skills. Ability to cope effectively and to help others cope with stress. Ability to work effectively and calmly under pressure or in emergency situations. Ability to work with personnel and physicians from many departments and medical offices.
Cognitive Requirements:
Ability to organize and prioritize workload. Good problem solving skills. Ability to work without full-time supervision.
Physical Demands:
Good eye-hand coordination. Excellent manual dexterity. Ability to sit, stand and walk moderate distances. Good visual concentration needed for work with VDT. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
Environment:
Stress level - moderate to high. Possible exposure to physical, mental and /or verbal abuse from patients. Potential for exposure to infectious diseases. Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids.
