Job Description

The Medical Assistant assists the Medical Providers and other direct care providers in the implementation of health programs and operation of the Passamaquoddy Health Center. This is a permanent, full-time position offering full benefits. The Medical Assistant is under the supervision of the Registered Nuse and/or designee.
Qualifications:
1. Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting, and Certified Medial Assistant (CMA) credential required. 2. Efficient in venipuncture and basic lab procedures, phlebotomy certification required. 3. Current CPR Certification. 4. Strong oral and written communication skills. 5. Strong computer and medical health electronic record knowledge. 6. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general health information. 7. Ability to handle multiple tasks of various complexities at one time.
Duties:
1. Serves in a medical assistant capacity to assist the medical staff in delivery of medical care to pediatric, adult, geriatric patients as well as the general population. 2. Assists in maintaining an adequate stock of basic supplies in accordance with instructions from the medical staff. 3. Performs routine laboratory and diagnostic procedures, as directed by providers, including but not limited to venipuncture, point of care testing, EKG's, immunizations, etc. 4. Triage patients, in clinic and over the telephone. 5. Screens and prepares the patient prior to appointments by Medical Providers. 6. Ensures that medical instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, tested, stored, and sterilized regularly. 7. Maintains strict patient confidentiality relative to all medical and social information at all times, in and out of the clinic. 8. Maintain cleanliness of clinic, exam rooms, patient contact areas, understand proper infection control techniques. 9. Participates in team and staff meetings as required by providers. 10. Enters data accurately into electronic health records. 11. Participates in and assists other staff with flu clinics and other health screening activities. 12.
