Job Description

Maine Family Planning is seeking a Medical Assistant to work 3 days a week (22.50 hours a week) at our Thomaston clinic. The clinic is open Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. If the candidate is looking for additional days, travel to another site would be required. The Medical Assistant assists family planning providers in the delivery of administrative and clinical duties under the supervision of the Nurse Practitioner as required by the State of Maine. Candidate must be able to work in a team environment. Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor are required. Follows Maine Family Planning policies and clinical protocols. Candidate may be expected to occasionally travel to other clinics within an hour of the Thomaston location General Expectations Be committed to the organization's mission, vision, and values. Understanding of and commitment to reproductive justice. Follows established policies and procedures and complies with all safety requirements. Communicates in an open, respectful, and honest manner. Communicates proactively with the supervisor regarding workflow, problems, suggestions, etc. Conforms to acceptable attendance/punctuality standards as expressed in Employee Handbook. Be neat and maintain personal appearance and hygiene as appropriate for the position. Always adheres strictly to confidentiality. Models MFP core values and has a Reproductive Justice mindset.
Experience and Skill Requirements:
The following experience and skills are considered essential: 1-2 years working in social/health services. Ability to be organized, manage systems, computer skills. Knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA and CLIA guidelines Experience working with electronic medical records. Commitment to family planning mission The following education requirements are considered essential: Certification from a Medical Assistant Training Program preferred.
