We are seeking an experienced Lead Medical Assistant to serve as a clinical leader, ensuring the highest standards of patient care while supporting efficient day-to-day operations. Position Summary The Lead Medical Assistant serves as the clinical team leader, working closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and office management to oversee daily clinical operations. This individual is responsible for supervising medical assistants, optimizing workflow, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining clinical quality standards, and delivering exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate is a proactive professional with strong leadership abilities, outstanding organizational skills, and extensive experience in primary care. Primary ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership Lead, mentor, coach, and support the medical assistant team. Coordinate daily clinical staffing and patient flow. Assist with onboarding and training of new medical assistants. Monitor staff performance and promote accountability, teamwork, and professionalism. Serve as the primary clinical resource for medical assistants and front office staff. Patient Care Prepare patients for examination by obtaining vital signs, medical histories, medication reconciliation, and chief complaints. Assist physicians during examinations and office procedures. Administer medications, vaccinations, and injections in accordance with physician orders and state regulations. Perform EKGs, spirometry, phlebotomy, point-of-care laboratory testing, and other clinical procedures. Perform or assist with digital X-rays in accordance with state regulations and office protocols (preferred experience). Provide patient education and reinforce physician treatment plans. Clinical Operations Ensure exam rooms are fully stocked, organized, and compliant with infection control standards. Oversee inventory management, supply ordering, and equipment maintenance. Coordinate referrals, prior authorizations, prescription refill requests, and laboratory/imaging follow-up. Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR). Promote efficient patient flow while maintaining high standards of care and patient satisfaction. Compliance & Quality Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA, infection prevention, and all regulatory requirements. Assist in implementing quality improvement initiatives and clinical workflow enhancements. Participate in policy development and ongoing staff education. Maintain a safe, organized, and professional clinical environment. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent clinical experience. Minimum 3-5 years of Medical Assistant experience in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, or Primary Care. Previous leadership, supervisory, or lead experience. Strong knowledge of clinical procedures and medical terminology. Experience using Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR). Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. Preferred CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), CCMA, or equivalent certification. Current BLS/CPR certification. Experience performing digital X-rays and knowledge of radiation safety protocols. Experience with quality improvement initiatives and workflow management.
