About us Rogers Dermatology is a physician-owned dermatology practice in Charlevoix, MI looking for a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our growing team! We are committed to delivering excellent patient care.

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for monitoring the clinic to make sure that the flow of patients from waiting room to exam rooms is running smoothly, managing all job duties and tasks assigned by the provider, managing provider and patient communication, and ensuring excellent patient care throughout a patient's visit.Skills:
Must be able to scribe and summarize provider and patient interactions according to the standards of the practice Ability to type, read, and spell at a professional level Critical thinking and problem solving Proficient with EMR, proficiency with ModMed a plus Using computer applications and iPads An attitude of responsibility—being accountable for all aspects of patient care and one's self. Accountability for all tasks entrusted to the medical staff. Attention to detail Organizational skills—must be able to manage information and one's time Friendly and patient demeanor Willingness to go extra mile for patients Professionalism Must have ability to take directions and constructive criticism. A person who cannot course correct is not a match for this position. Positive attitude and disinclination to gossip Willingness to work hard and be a team playerCommunication:
Constant communication with staff and patients. Open communication with providers and management. Communicate well and effectively with patients.Primary Job Duties:
Interview patients to obtain medical information. Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician quickly. Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records. Prior authorizations. Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician. Collect tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing. Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients. Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures. Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies. Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean. Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies. Schedule appointments for patients. Change dressings on wounds and removing sutures. Greet and log in patients arriving at office or clinic. Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests or admission. Perform general office duties, such as answering telephones and voicemails, taking dictation, or completing insurance forms. Inventory and order medical, lab, or office supplies or equipment. Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses. Photographing skin diseases. Administering injections of local anesthetic and steroids. Other duties as assigned.Activities:

Critical Thinking— Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Coordination— Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions.Job Hazards:
General dermatology clinic with daily exposure to sharps and potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Periodic exposure to caustic agents. Likelihood of injury is low.Body Positioning:
Job will require extended times of standing and moving around.Work Attire :

Daily and minute-to-minute decisions that have significant impact on clinic flow and physician's ability to see patients in timely manner. Great measure of responsibility in terms of keeping track of biopsy specimens and their delivery to laboratory. Losing a specimen can have grave consequences. First person to greet patient and they set tone for visit. Must be able to closely follow commands that facilitate appropriate patient care, such as setting up a surgical room correctly or being able to transcribe notes accurately so that patient records are accurate. Must be able to support the operations and interests of the office.Pace and Scheduling:
This job requires constant monitoring of the clinic to make sure that the flow of patients from waiting room to exam rooms is not delayed and keeping the doctor on track with regard to time management and clinic flow. Willingness to take on new tasks as needed to facilitate patient care and clinic operations.Job Type:
