Job Description

Medical Administrative Assistant:
Medical Administrative Assistant support the day-to-day administrative operations of our medical office/healthcare practice. Job duties Greet patients and check them in and out Answer phones, emails, and patient questions Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments Maintain and update patient records and demographics Verify insurance eligibility and collect copays Obtain and process referrals and prior authorizations Prepare medical charts and documentation Enter patient and billing information into electronic health record (EHR) systems Process medical forms, records requests, and correspondence Communicate with physicians, nurses, pharmacies, laboratories, and insurance companies Handle medical records while maintaining patient confidentiality Collect and process payments Submit or assist with insurance claims and billing Coordinate referrals, testing, and follow-up appointments Prepare exam rooms or assist with basic office workflow, depending on the position Order office supplies and maintain administrative files Follow HIPAA and other healthcare privacy requirements Assist providers and clinical staff with administrative tasks Preferred skills Customer service and communication Computer and data-entry skills Attention to detail Organization and multitasking Knowledge of medical terminology Insurance and billing familiarity EHR/EMR experience Professional phone etiquette HIPAA awareness Ability to work with patients in a professional and compassionate manner
