A Medical Assistant assists physicians and other medical specialists with routine administrative or clinical tasks. Organizes patient records, schedules appointments, and prepares medical equipment. May specialize in administrative or clinical work, or specialize in a particular area of medicine, i.e. assisting in the office of an ophthalmologist (eye specialist). Works in medical offices.

Premier Cardiovascular Consultants Of MI is a cardiovascular medicine office providing comprehensive cardiac care, including diagnostic testing, preventive cardiology, and management of chronic cardiovascular conditions. We are seeking a detail-oriented, compassionate Medical Assistant to join our clinical team.
Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant will support cardiologists and advanced practice providers with direct patient care, clinical testing, and administrative tasks in a fast-paced outpatient cardiology setting.
Responsibilities:
Room patients and obtain vital signs, weight, and relevant history including cardiac symptoms (chest pain, dyspnea, palpitations, edema, syncope) Perform and prepare patients for 12-lead EKGs; recognize and flag critical abnormalities for provider review Assist with or perform ambulatory monitor setup (Holter, event monitors) per practice protocol Prepare exam rooms and equipment for stress testing, echocardiography, or other cardiac diagnostics as applicable Administer medications and injections as ordered and within scope of practice Collect blood specimens (phlebotomy) and process point-of-care testing (e.g., INR, glucose) Document accurately in the EHR, including chief complaint, vitals, and medication reconciliation Manage prior authorizations, referrals, and coordination of care with cardiology-specific diagnostics and specialists Communicate with patients regarding anticoagulation management, device clinic scheduling, or procedure prep instructions as directed by providers Maintain and calibrate clinical equipment (EKG machines, monitors) per manufacturer and practice standards Restock and maintain clinical supplies, including crash cart checks per protocol Adhere to infection control, HIPAA, and OSHA standards
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent Proficiency with EHR systems (or willingness to learn) Willingness to develop strong EKG acquisition skills; ability to learn to identify gross abnormalities requiring immediate provider notification Preferred (not required): Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, or equivalent experience Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or CCMA) Current BLS certification 1+ years of MA experience in a cardiology or specialty medical practice Experience with Holter/event monitor hookup and scheduling Phlebotomy certification or demonstrated competency Familiarity with anticoagulation monitoring workflows Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages relevant to patient population) as a plus

No certification? No problem. We provide on-the-job training for the right candidate — certification is not required to apply, and clinical/EKG skills will be taught hands-on by our team.
Please note:
the practice does not cover the cost of outside MA certification courses or exam fees. Prior clinical or customer-service experience and a strong work ethic are valued as much as existing credentials.
