Job Description

Responsibilities:
Obtains current and correct information from patient (history, allergies, etc.) required for physician. Obtains and records vital signs correctly; TPR, Weight, Height, and Blood Pressure. Maintains growth charts on pediatric patients. Reviews current problem or signs and symptoms with patient. Records accurate documentation for records into EMR. Assists with scanning of medical records. Maintains accurate record of assigned and vacant exam rooms. Room's patient efficiently and accurately. Performs correct admission and dismissal procedures. Degree of confidentiality maintained regarding patient information, medical staff, and office issues. Able to give detailed discharge instructions, follow up appointments, etc. Assists with minor office surgical procedures, pap smears and other procedures as needed. Maintains working knowledge of routines and standing orders. Assists with scheduling procedures, testing and surgeries with outside agencies as directed. Assists with authorization/certification of patients with insurance for surgery or procedures as needed. E-faxes and phones pharmacies with patient prescriptions as directed by office policy. Inventories and maintains appropriate supply of drug samples and supplies. Ensures outdated medications and supplies are removed per policy in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Prefer previous experience in a physician office setting Medical terminology background preferred Previous experience in specific medical field preferred
